Race Categories

Individual Age Group, AquaBike, Clydesdale/ Athena, and Team Relays

Age Group: Triathlons recognize the Overall Male and Female Winners, the Overall Male and Female Master’s Winners, and then top 3 male and female for each Age Group category. Master’s division is anyone age 40+. Age groups are determined by your age as of December 31st at the end of the year, and are in five year increments starting at age 20 and moving up to age 79, with additional recognition for 19 and under and 80+.

Aquabike: Swim, bike, and be done. Whether you have bad knees, are working through an injury, or just plain prefer not to run, Aquabike could be the event for you. All of our Aquabike options follow the same courses as our triathlons. Your finishing time will be recorded as you cross the Bike In line at transition. From there you can take your time, rack your bike, then get your finisher medal and drop off your timing chip at the Finish Line.

Clydesdale and Athena: To qualify for these categories you must be over a given weight (220 lbs. for males and 165 lbs. for females) and select the appropriate category when registering.

Category Awards:

Age Group: 19 under, 20-24, 25-29, etc. through 75+ awarded top 3 male and female in each of these age categories.

Aquabike, Clydesdale/Athena, and Team Relay race categories have awards for the top 3 overall in each of these categories.

Middle Distance (70.4 mi) Triathlon

Offered At: Deuces Wild and August Mountain Man

Swim 1.2 miles | Bike 56 miles | Run 13.1 miles

Individual Age Group, Individual AquaBike, Relay & Clydesdale/ Athena

The DeuceMan is the most challenging race at the Deuces Wild Endurance Festival and is a long-distance race covering 70.4 miles.

The Mountain Man 70.4 mile course in August takes you past Lake Mary and Mormon Lake and through rolling hills in the Ponderosa Pine forest with summer flowers in full bloom. In both cases you will swim, bike, and run through some of the most beautiful scenery in Arizona and be on a course that will challenge you both physically and mentally.


Olympic Distance Triathlon

Offered at all events

Swim – 1500 meters | Bike – 40 kilometers | Run – 10 kilometers

Individual Age Group, Individual AquaBike, Relay & Clydesdale/ Athena

The Olympic or International Distance Triathlon is the main event for many triathletes. Complete the same distances as Olympians! If you are looking for a fast, yet challenging course then this race is for you!


Youth/Kids Triathlon

Swim – 50/200 meter | Bike – 1.2/2.75/4.1 miles | Run – .55/1 mile

With three different youth distances for ages 5-15, plus the standard Sprint Distance for 16-17, we have you covered with this family-friendly race format!


Sprint Distance Triathlon

Offered at Deuces Wild and July Mountain Man

Swim 750 meters | Bike 20 km | Run 5 km

Individual Age Group, Individual AquaBike, Relay & Clydesdale/ Athena

The Sprint Triathlon is a great course for beginners and people with experience who are looking to challenge themselves at elevation in Northern Arizona!


Super Sprint

Swim 300 meters | Bike ~8 km | Run 3 km

Individual Age Group

The Super Sprint Triathlon is a NEW EVENT in 2022. This is a perfect distance for beginners, advanced/older kids, and Sprinters who want to set some speed records. The courses are still under development. We expect the swim to be 300 m, the bike course to be approximately 8 km and the run course to be approximately 3 km.


Half Marathon, 10K & 5K

Running Events Offered at the Deuces Wild Endurance Festival

Deuces Wild Half-Marathon

One of the only half marathons in Arizona’s White Mountains, this 2-loop course is a great way to get out and enjoy the Fool Hollow State Park! With mixed terrain, including roads and dirt paths, this race will keep you pushing the pace. Aid stations are well-stocked at every mile.

10K RUN

If you are looking for a 10k run in the White Mountains of Arizona then you have found the crown jewel! This race takes a scenic route around Fool Hollow Lake via roads and gravel paths. You also get to run through some of the campgrounds where people will be cheering you on. Aid stations are every mile and well-stocked.

5K RUN COURSE

The 5k run course is completely in the Fool Hollow Lake park and takes athletes along the paved roads and the nicely groomed, scenic trail around Fool Hollow Lake and then into the campgrounds. From there you will follow the roads back to the start/finish area, where you will get an accurate time with your timing chip.


Trail Running Deuces Wild

8K Trail Run

The Deuces Wild 8K Trail Run is held at Fool Hollow Lake and follows a fun route through the forest with close-up experiences of the lake. This course offers athletes a mix of hills, and flat terrain.
